When I found out about the Inspiring Futures Fund, I was able to cover part of the costs of the flights for my overseas placement in Tanzania.

Although I had already prepared to save for the entire cost of the placement abroad, the additional funding was of great help as it allowed me to spend more time focused on my university work instead of picking up extra hours at my job to cover the costs. At first, I didn’t realise eg. how many vaccinations I required until I was told and how much these vaccinations were.

I am currently in my final four months of my degree and after the experience abroad I have developed a new level of confidence and life experience to take with me for the rest of my life. As I was awarded the grant I was appreciative of the help UOS provided me.

It has changed my perspective of life and healthcare entirely. It has made me a better person by far, not only personally but professionally. It will definitely add to my continued professional development (CPD) portfolio and when the time comes for applying for my for newly qualified graduate paramedic job this is going to make the difference in my personal statement and be a great interview opener!
